BillingClientMetricAbsent

This alert allows you to be warned when the metrics used for billing are no longer present.

These are metrics coming from client clusters. They are identified by the metricname label. The cc_consumption_client label lets you know which cloud zone the client zone corresponds to.

Note

This alert can be triggered if a client cluster is powered off.

Troubleshooting hints

This problem may have multiple possible causes :

• a problem with the Cloud Provider
• a problem with the exporter (in client zone)
• a problem on the federation between the cloud zone and the client
• a problem on the federation between infra/consumption and the cloud zone

You may check each of those possible causes :

• another alert may also raise if there is a federation problem. If there is no other alert, don't focus first on federation.
• check the exporter in the client cluster : see if it is running, if it contains metrics. Also check its logs.

Note

Most metrics come from node-exporter, kube-state-metrics and kubelet.
